Ty would prefer to go “glamping” but his father has taken him to the middle of the woods. The night before Ty’s mom remarries, the two men fight bears, their past, and one another in playwright travis tate’s exploration of masculinity and queerness through the lens of multi-generational Blackness.

tate (they/them) is a queer playwright, poet, and performer living in Brooklyn. Their poems have been published in Southern Humanities Review, Vassar Review, The Boiler, among other publications. Their first collection of poetry, Maiden, was published in June 2020 by VA Press. Their first collection of short stories, UNTENABLE MYSTIC CHARM, will be published by Stanchion Book Press in early 2024. Their plays have been produced by Dorset Theatre Festival, Victory Gardens, Theatre East and Breaking The Binary Theatre Festival. The Traveling Diary is a global project where women from over 30 countries share slices of their lives in a circulating diary, weaving a tapestry of diverse, profound experiences that resonate with themes of discovery and understanding. Come to write, share, and connect, drawing from the spirit of discovery that both this play and The Traveling Diary celebrate, all within the creative sanctuary of Luna Stage.

travis tate
PLAYWRIGHT
travis l. tate (they/them) is a queer playwright, poet, and performer living in Brooklyn. Their poems have been published in Southern Humanities Review, Vassar Review, The Boiler, among other publications. Their first collection of poetry, Maiden, was published in June 2020 by VA Press. Their first collection of short stories, UNTENABLE MYSTIC CHARM, will be published by Stanchion Book Press in early 2024. Recently, they had a reading of YOUR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL at the Shiva Theatre with Breaking The Binary Theatre Festival in October 2023. They were a fellow in the Liberation Theatre Company's Playwriting Residency and Theatre East's Writers Group. Their plays have been produced by Dorset Theatre Festival, Victory Gardens, Theatre East and Breaking The Binary Theatre Festival. Lucas Pinner
DIRECTOR
Lucas Pinner is honored to be making his Luna Stage directorial debut with Queen of the Night. Lucas is an actor, director, fight choreographer and teaching artist, in addition to being Luna Stage's Production Manager. As an actor, some of his credits include performing in Richard III in England (Oxford Shakespeare Company), Peter and the Starcatcher and The Story of the Nutcracker (The Growing Stage) and Razia's Shadow (Bullet Theatre Collaborative). In his teaching career, he has worked at many New Jersey theatres, including Luna Stage, Paper Mill, George Street Playhouse, and Two River Theatre. At these theatres, he has directed performances and taught acting, improvisation, devised theatre, stage combat, and many other techniques and theatrical forms. Stage combat work includes Broadway's Aladdin as a pre-production combat assistant, as well as choreographing performances and teaching workshops and residencies at theatres and high schools around the state. Roy Jackson, “Stephen”, is excited to be a part of Luna Stage’s production of QUEEN of THE NIGHT! Roy Jackson hails from Richmond, California and he is a graduate from The University of California Berkeley. He trained at The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Some select film credits are: THE NARROWS, LOVE 40, VAMPIRES VS. THE BRONX, and FIRST SUNDAY. Notable TV credits include: LAW & ORDER: SVU, BLUE BLOODS, BLINDSPOT, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, and DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Some select theater credits are: ANTIGONE and THE TEMPEST with The African American Shakespeare Company in San Francisco.
