Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue, preferably no more than two minutes long.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Elliot:  19, Hispanic. Serving in Iraq 1st Marine Division. Physically fit; takes pride in his appearance.  Compelling; the image of a modern heroic soldier - and being used as such by the military. Street- tough persona, but it's not that deep. Mixes American culture, Latino culture fluidly but feels out of touch with his cultural ancestry.

Pop:  Elliot's father. 50s. Plays various ages. Hispanic. Served in Vietnam 3rd Cavalry Division. Tough, constantly maintaining masculinity. Molded by the war into who he is, but still can't talk about it openly with family. Conflicting mix of Puerto Rican and American Identity.

Grandpop:  Elliot’s grandfather. 70 – 80. Plays various ages. Hispanic. Served in Korea 6th Infantry Regiment of Puerto Rico. Old-world masculinity inherited from an older world with clear boundaries that he still sometimes inhabits. Deep sense of cultural identity. Might still have an accent. Plays the flute (actors who can play flute are ideal but not necessary).

Ginny:  Elliot's mother. 45 – 55. Plays various ages. Hispanic. Served in Vietnam Army Nurse Corps.  Mother Earth quality - maternal and nurturing but also fierce, uninhibited and wild at times. Love of life.
