CASTING NOTICE - INDIAN HEAD

Luna Stage is now casting for the winter 2017 world premiere production of Indian Head, a new play by Obie-Award winning playwright Nikkole Salter at Luna Stage in West Orange, NJ.

EPA at the Actors Equity Building on Thursday, September 29th from 9:30am-5:30pm.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

[RACHEL] - 17-year-old Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape president of the Tribal Youth Council and senior in high school. Patricia's daughter. Rachel is a passionate and fierce young woman, and an active part of the Gen-I movement of Indigenous youth looking to demand respect and visibility for tribal cultures and contemporary life in 'mainstream' American society. Her appearance may lead uniformed people to believe that she is mulatto or African American or Latino. She is Native.

[PATRICIA] - 47-year-old Lenape woman, the supervisor of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Youth Council looking to anchor her daughter to the daily concerns of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape tribe. Rachel's mom. An old activist who had ventured far in the national Native rights movement as a young woman in the late 80s/early 90s, Patricia has since re-dedicated herself to her family and tribe. Her appearance may lead uniformed people to believe that she is mulatto or African American or Latino. She is Native.

[COACH] - 43-year-old non-Indigenous, non-Caucasian teacher and coach of the Parsippany High School Warriors. A former high school football player himself, Coach is a passionate, dedicated man with a great respect and love for the game of football in the job of his dreams and the season of his coaching career. With his special brand of solid coaching and traditional team building he is on the verge of making history by restoring his alma mater to the state champion status.

[BRIAN] - 17-year-old non-Indigenous high school senior of mixed race (Caucasian and something else) attending Parsippany High, and the quarterback of the high school Warriors football team. A part of a culture of men who have been on championship Parsippany High football teams, he wants nothing more than to honor and be a part of that legacy.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION:

This is a Small Professional Theatre (SPT) Tier II Actors Equity Association contract. Salary is approximately $277/week, plus health and pension. Non-Union actors will be considered.

Housing is not provided. Luna Stage is accessible by train from NYC.

Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. It is a 26 hour/week rehearsal process.

Performances are February 2nd-March 5th, 2017, Thursday-Sunday. The production is directed by Kareem Fahmy.

CASTING NOTICE - TRANQUIL

Luna Stage is now accepting headshots and resumes for the spring 2017 world premiere production of Tranquil, a new play by Andrew Rosendorf at Luna Stage in West Orange, NJ.

EPA at the Actors Equity Building on Thursday, November 17th from 9:30am-5:30pm.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

Paralyzed in the car accident that claimed her mother's life, 17-year-old Ellen is determined to experience all her teenage years have to offer. But when the past comes knocking on the door in the form of Ellen's brother, her small family's delicate balance is upended. In a home awash with anger, guilt, and Ellen's raging hormones, Tranquil is a raw exploration of one shattered family striving to be whole again.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Ellen (17) - Wheelchair user. Headstrong yet sensitive. She has paraplegia as a result of a car accident two years earlier, and is a strong wheelchair racer.

Aaron (21) - Ellen's brother. Emotionally stunted, guilt ridden, lives his life recklessly.

Rick (50s) - Ellen and Aaron's Father. Thrust into a caregiver role that he was never equipped for.

Paul (19) - Ellen's Friend. honest and caring, with a good sense of humor.

Actors of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to submit.
